Welcome to Distance Education at NC State! As one of the nation’s first land grant institutions, North Carolina State University provides access to quality, well-rounded educational opportunities for a diverse student population.

This website and graduate programs available through NC State’s Distance Education. We also offer undergraduate and graduate courses in a wide variety of academic disciplines to meet your curriculum needs through the Flexible Access program. These courses are open to anyone who meets the prerequisites and/or restrictions. Please consult your plan of study and the listings in this catalog to see how Distance Education can serve your needs.

Two new master’s degree programs are now available online, the Master’s in Soil Science and the Master’s in Biological and Agricultural Engineering. The recently established online undergraduate degree completion program “Leadership in the Public Sector” specifically focuses on leadership training and policy formulation in non-profit, government, and other non-market roles. Students admitted to the program will have completed at least 60 hours of studies at a community college or other institution of higher education.

This online orientation can help you decide if Distance Education is right for you, and also acquaint you with the many resources and services available to you as an NC State Distance Education student.
