Administrative Officers Management Program (AOMP)

The AOMP is a partnership that brings together the theoretical perspective of the faculty and the practical experience of police officers in an effort to produce the effective and efficient public management techniques that are demanded in these increasingly complex times. In this partnership, the most up-to-date research in management and leadership is always placed in the context faced by law enforcement administrators. This “theory into practice” perspective gives participants the opportunity to make meaningful change in their organizations and in their personal interactions with employees, colleagues, and supervisors, and in the long run, produces the type of innovation necessary to strengthen ties with and increase support from citizens. Participants in this intensive twelve-week program earn fifteen college credits.

Departments and agencies are invited to nominate candidates for admission to the Administrative Officers Management Program. Candidates will be evaluated and nominating departments and agencies will be notified of the acceptance of the candidates. Candidates are evaluated for admission to the program on the basis of prior academic work, demonstrated ability to work at the level at least equivalent to upper level undergraduates, and the candidate's assignment within his or her organization indicating management responsibilities or expectations.
