Leadership in the Public Sector
B.A. Degree Completion Program

Leadership in the Public Sector (LPS) is an online undergraduate degree completion program focusing on leadership in non-market environments (such as local, state, and federal government organizations, and non-profit institutions). Students are provided with a liberal arts foundation in the ethical, theoretical, and policy analytical skills necessary to be effective leaders in public sector organizations. The program is ideal for students who are unable to attend campus-based classes due to geographic location, work schedules, or other life circumstances. It is also suited for those whose learning styles or preferences are better accommodated by distance education.

Admissions:

Students seeking admission to the program should have a minimum of 60 credit hours of college level work from an accredited college or university, or hold an AA degree from a community college. 122 total hours are required for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Leadership in the Public Sector. The program consists of 30 LPS credit hours with additional course credits available through NC State’s Distance Education Flexible Access program.

Degree completion requirements:

Total Hours Required - The B.A. in Leadership in the Public Sector requires 122 total hours. Of these total hours, 30 credit major hours are required.  The complete list of degree requirements in greater detail can be found in the following link: http://lps.ncsu.edu/grad_req.htm. All University and College of Humanities and Social Sciences requirements for graduation must also be completed by students.

Grades Required - Students admitted into the B.A. in Leadership in the Public Sector program will be expected to maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.0. Courses used to complete the Major Field of Study must be completed with a “C-” or better. A 2.0 GPA in the major is required.

Foreign Language Requirement - Students majoring in Leadership in the Public Sector will be required to complete FL-201 course as a part of the foreign language requirement for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences.
